Ring all three and you'll unlock Chapter 1's secret area — here's exactly where to find them.

Chapter 1 of Black Myth: Wukong hides three bells across Black Wind Mountain. Ring all three and you're teleported straight to the Ancient Guanyin Temple — a secret area with its own boss, Elder Jinchi, and one of the most useful items in the chapter waiting on the other side.
You won't be told about this quest until fairly late — the Whiteclad Noble poses a riddle after you defeat him: "The three bells — have you seen them all?" That's the game's only real hint that this quest exists. Most players have already walked past one or two bells by that point without realizing what they were.
If you're coming from other soulslikes and hesitating to ring a mysterious bell in case it triggers something bad — don't worry. Ringing these has no negative consequences. It's a pure reward, no downside.
The order you ring them in doesn't matter. Ring the third one, wherever it happens to be, and the teleport triggers.

Bell #1 — Behind Guangzhi's Arena
[IMAGE: Bell #1 at the treeline directly behind Guangzhi's arena — bronze bell mounted on a post, arena ground visible in the foreground]
Location: Forest of Wolves — Outside the Forest
Fast travel to the Outside the Forest Keeper's Shrine. From there, take the left path past two wolf guards, cross the wooden bridge, and follow the torch-lit trail through the gate into Guangzhi's arena. Defeat him — he's an optional boss, but required to reach this bell.
The bell is at the treeline directly behind where you fought him. It's easy to miss because the natural exit path leads the opposite direction, and most players leave the arena the moment the fight ends without turning around. This is the single most commonly missed bell in the whole quest.
If you've already left the arena without ringing it, just fast travel back — the bell is always there waiting.
Bell #2 — Behind Guangmou's Arena
[IMAGE: Bell #2 at the top of a wide staircase directly behind Guangmou's arena]
Location: Bamboo Grove — Snake Trail
Fast travel to the Snake Trail Keeper's Shrine. Follow the main path east through the large circular bamboo clearing — watch for Snake Patrollers and Skeletal Snakes along the way — and take the narrow torch-lit path at the north end into Guangmou's arena. He's a mandatory boss, so you'll fight him regardless.
After the fight, look for the wide staircase directly behind the arena — not the archway you'd normally exit through. Climb it and the bell is waiting at the top.
Bell #3 — Left of Whiteclad Noble's Arena
[IMAGE: The flooded ravine path to the left of Whiteclad Noble's arena, bell visible at the far end]
Location: Bamboo Grove — Marsh of White Mist
Fast travel to the Marsh of White Mist Keeper's Shrine and follow the wooden platforms down to the open marsh where Whiteclad Noble waits. He's the hardest mandatory fight in the chapter — two health bars, two forms — so come prepared.
After the fight, don't follow the cave path he was guarding. Instead, go left, through a flooded ravine. A handful of wolves guard the area — clear them, and the bell is at the far end.
This is also the moment the game formally introduces the quest, through Whiteclad Noble's post-fight riddle.
What Happens When You Ring All Three
The moment your third bell rings — regardless of which one it is — you're teleported directly to the Ancient Guanyin Temple, a past, withered version of the temple you passed through earlier in the chapter.
Inside, you'll find:
Three chests to the right of the shrine, containing Guanyin's Prayer Beads and Stone Spirits
A new Keeper's Shrine (Grand Chamber) so you can fast travel here anytime afterward
Elder Jinchi — a secret optional boss fought deeper in the temple
Defeating Elder Jinchi rewards a large amount of Will, and — critically — leaves a wolf corpse hanging from the tree next to Bell #3. Interact with it to collect the Fireproof Mantle Vessel, an item that grants fire resistance and complete immunity to Scorch damage from lava-covered terrain. It makes the Chapter 1 final boss, Black Bear Guai, significantly more manageable — and it's worth holding onto well beyond Chapter 1. Later chapters have entire regions built around lava, and this is the item that lets you walk through them safely.
⚠️ One important warning: the Wandering Wight — an optional boss found near the Outside the Forest shrine — disappears permanently once Elder Jinchi is defeated. If you haven't fought him yet, do it before finishing this bell quest. His Spirit is one of the strongest in Chapter 1.
