Eclipse Glow Games used its Gamescom Opening Night Live slot to give Tides of Annihilation its most story-focused look yet. The new trailer, titled "Beneath the Veil," dropped August 25 and trades the game's previously shown combat for something more emotional — introducing key figures from Arthurian legend and confirming a new voice behind the game's heroine.
What's Actually in the Trailer
The roughly two-minute trailer opens in the ashes of a devastated London, with protagonist Gwendolyn coming to terms with her new reality. She's soon approached by the legendary Guinevere, who encourages her to embrace the power of the Fog — a force previously wielded only by King Arthur himself — in order to save both London and the mythical realm of Avalon from total annihilation.
From there, Gwendolyn takes up the sword and begins fighting alongside spectral Knights of the Round Table. The trailer's biggest reveal is the debut of Sir Lancelot, who Gwendolyn can summon into battle to dispatch enemies in dramatic fashion.
Unlike earlier gameplay-focused reveals, this trailer leans almost entirely on story and character rather than combat, giving players their clearest look yet at how deeply Arthurian legend runs through the game's narrative — Guinevere and Lancelot aren't just references, they're active figures in Gwendolyn's journey.
A New Voice for Gwendolyn
The trailer also officially confirmed Angela Sant'Albano as Gwendolyn's new English voice actor, stepping into the role a few weeks after original actor Jennifer English departed the production citing personal health concerns. Sant'Albano is a familiar face to genre fans — she recently played Grace Ashcroft in Resident Evil Requiem.
In a statement, Sant'Albano said she was "beyond thrilled" to take on the role, describing Gwendolyn as a heroine who "carries self-doubt, constantly questioning whether she's enough, but... refuses to let fear make her stand still." She added that everything Gwendolyn does is driven by love for her sister and her homeland, calling the chance to voice her "an absolute privilege."
The Story So Far
For anyone not caught up: Tides of Annihilation is set after a catastrophic event called the Outworld Invasion, which leaves London torn apart and transformed into an eerie, fog-shrouded reflection of itself. Gwendolyn, the city's last surviving inhabitant, mysteriously inherits King Arthur's power over the Fog and sets out across two worlds — the ruined, modern city and the mythical realm of Avalon — to save her sister, restore what's been lost, and ultimately confront the demi-gods responsible.
It's an ambitious setup, blending real-world London landmarks (now twisted and reimagined) with full-blown Arthurian mythology, and this trailer is the clearest signal yet that the story side of the game is being treated with just as much care as its combat systems.
Wider Language Support and Where to Play It
Alongside the trailer, Eclipse Glow Games confirmed Brazilian Portuguese is being added as a supported language, bringing the game's total language support to eleven, including English, French, German, Spanish, Japanese, Korean, Russian, and both Simplified and Traditional Chinese.
Tides of Annihilation is currently in development for PC (via Steam and the Epic Games Store), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. No release date has been confirmed yet, though the game is playable at Gamescom this week for attendees at Hall 6, Booth B-050. It's currently available to wishlist across all confirmed storefronts.
The Bottom Line
Between the Arthurian legend woven directly into its story, a proper emotional trailer to match its previously-shown combat, and a new voice actor stepping into a genuinely meaty role, Tides of Annihilation continues to look like one of the more ambitious action-adventure games without a AAA publisher behind it. There's still no release date, but between this trailer and a playable Gamescom demo, the game feels like it's approaching the final stretch of its reveal cycle.
