Reissad Studio has closed out its four-part Devlog series for v0.8: Locked & Loaded. Devlog #4, published today, August 28, takes a different approach from the previous three entries — instead of showcasing a single flashy new feature, this one is entirely about the community-requested improvements that don't always make headlines but shape how the game actually feels to play.
What's Actually Changing
Reissad broke this devlog down into six broad categories of community-driven work:
Quality-of-life improvements spread across the entire game
Gameplay balancing and weapon handling refinements
User interface and accessibility improvements
Match flow and multiplayer experience upgrades
Performance, stability, and networking improvements
Numerous fixes and polish requested directly by the community
As Reissad put it, these changes "may not always be as visible as a new weapon or a new map," but the studio frames them as essential to making Bodycam feel smoother, more reliable, and more enjoyable overall.
A Different Kind of Devlog
Reissad was upfront that this one is "a little different" from the animation, sound, and map reveals that came before it. Rather than a single subject with an almost endless amount of ground to cover, the studio acknowledged there are still things it wanted to include but simply didn't have time to finish for this update. Even so, Reissad is calling Locked & Loaded a huge step forward compared to the original game — this devlog is just the version of that step focused on cleanup and refinement rather than new content.
The Devlog Series, By the Numbers
With all four parts now out, here's how the series performed:
Devlog | Focus | Views |
|---|---|---|
Animation & Loadout | 682,037 | |
Sound Design | 944,114 | |
Devlog #3 | Trenches | 339,918 |
Devlog #4 | Player-Driven Improvements | 716,197 |
Sound Design pulled in the largest audience by a solid margin, while Trenches saw the smallest — though all four videos landed comfortably in the hundreds of thousands of views, a strong sign of how much attention this update has generated ahead of launch.
The Playtest Starts Tomorrow
Reissad closed the devlog with a reminder that's been building all week: some players will get their hands on Locked & Loaded two days early starting tomorrow, as part of the Bodycam Week playtest running August 29–31. The studio was candid about what to expect — with an update this size, some bugs are inevitable, and the playtest exists specifically to catch the most important ones before the full release. Reissad thanked players in advance for helping find them.
The Bigger Picture
Four devlogs, four very different focuses — animation and loadouts, a full sound design rebuild, a brand-new map, and now a wide pass of community-driven polish. With the devlog series now complete and the playtest just a day away, everything is pointing toward September 2 as the moment Locked & Loaded officially becomes the biggest update Bodycam has ever shipped.
Which of the four devlogs are you most excited to actually play — the new weapons and loadout system, the reworked sound, Trenches, or the quality-of-life fixes? Let us know in the comments, and we'll see you in the trenches once the playtest goes live.
