Reissad Studio has kept its promise on schedule once again. Devlog #3, published today, August 25, pulls back the curtain on Trenches — the brand-new battlefield coming with v0.8: Locked & Loaded — and based on what's shown, this is easily the most ambitious map Bodycam has built yet.
What's Actually in Trenches
The devlog breaks the new map down into several key pillars:
A large battlefield built to combine close-quarters combat with long-range engagements in the same space
Extensive trench networks, underground tunnels, and multiple tactical routes, giving players real choice in how they approach a fight
Dynamic weather and lighting scenarios that change the atmosphere of the map from match to match
New points of interest, including ruined compounds, forests, and a central church
Dedicated areas designed specifically for FPV drones and RC cars, tying the map directly into the new tactical gadgets introduced in Devlog #1
A look at the creative process behind what Reissad is calling one of Bodycam's most ambitious environments to date
Built for Variety, Not Just Scale
Reissad has been explicit about the intent behind Trenches: it's designed to offer a wide variety of combat situations rather than just being a bigger map for the sake of size. The mix of trench networks, tunnels, and multiple routes is meant to reward teamwork, positioning, and tactical decision-making — themes that line up directly with the broader gameplay systems introduced across this update, from the new Loadout & Weapon Customization System to the tactical tablet replacing traditional menus.
The dedicated FPV drone and RC car zones are a particularly interesting detail. Rather than treating those tools as an afterthought bolted onto an existing map, Reissad appears to have built specific spaces into Trenches with those gadgets in mind — suggesting scouting and reconnaissance play could be a genuinely core part of how matches unfold here, not just a novelty.
One Devlog Left
With Trenches revealed, Reissad's four-part Devlog series is nearly done:
Devlog #1: Animation & Loadout — released August 18
Devlog #2: Sound Design — released August 21
Devlog #3: Trenches — released today, August 25
Devlog #4: Player-Driven Improvements — still to come
Reissad also shared some early view counts for the series so far: the Animation & Loadout devlog has pulled in over 567,000 views after debuting on IGN's YouTube channel a day before Reissad's own upload, while the Sound Design devlog has climbed past 680,000 views. Trenches is off to a strong start too, already past 16,000 views within its first stretch.
The Bigger Picture
Three devlogs in, the pattern holds: Reissad isn't just announcing new content, it's explaining the reasoning and design philosophy behind each piece of v0.8. With animation, sound, and now the new map all covered, the only remaining reveal is Devlog #4's look at player-driven improvements — quality-of-life changes and community-requested fixes — before Locked & Loaded launches September 2.
Does Trenches sound like the kind of map you'll want to run FPV drones through, or are you more interested in the close-quarters trench fighting? Let us know in the comments, and check back for our coverage of Devlog #4 once it drops.
