The wait for Phantom Blade Zero just got a lot shorter. S-Game dropped a full 11-minute gameplay trailer today, and pre-orders are officially live across PlayStation Store, Steam, and the Epic Games Store. If you've had this one on your radar since the wuxia-flavored combat first turned heads back at State of Play, today's your day to actually put money down.
And here's the part that really matters: the game has gone Gold. For anyone who doesn't speak dev-speak, that means the game is finished — locked, done, ready to ship. No more delays, no more "targeting" a window. October 29 is happening.
What's in the Trailer
This isn't a quick teaser — 11 minutes gives S-Game room to actually show what Soul, the game's assassin protagonist, is capable of. The trailer digs into story beats, introduces characters, and leans heavily into combat and gameplay footage rather than just cinematic flash.
One sequence getting attention already: a fight that plays out atop a speeding wagon, where Soul crosses blades with a former ally known only as "The Hunt." It's fast, it's brutal, and it's exactly the kind of fluid, aggressive combat S-Game has been teasing since the earliest gameplay reveals — light and heavy attacks strung together, quick evasion, parries, and weapon switching mid-fight.
S-Game also teased that there's "something unexpected" tied to this reveal. As of now, nobody's entirely sure what that means — could be an extra mechanic, could be a surprise collaboration, could be something else entirely. For now, that part's still a mystery.
Pre-Order Details
Pre-orders went live today, August 11, at 7 PM PT / 10 PM ET, through:
Pre-ordering gets you early access to two items: the Treasure Basin accessory and the Legacy outfit. Both can technically be earned through normal in-game progression too, so this is really just a head start rather than exclusive content you'll never see otherwise.
The Bigger News: A Full Gameplay Deep Dive Is Coming August 17
Here's the thing — today's trailer isn't even the main event. Sony's confirmed a dedicated, standalone State of Play for Phantom Blade Zero on August 17 at 7:00 PM PT / 10:00 PM ET (August 18 at 3:00 AM BST / 11:00 AM JST, if you're checking the time zones). This one's being billed as a proper gameplay deep dive — new, never-before-seen characters, and a much closer look at how flexible player builds can actually get.
In other words: today's trailer is the opener. The real gameplay showcase is still a week away.
Release Date and Platforms — The Recap
Release date: October 29, 2026
Platforms: PlayStation 5 and PC (via Steam and Epic Games Store)
No word yet on Xbox or Switch versions — as of now, this is a PS5/PC exclusive
The date's already been pushed once, from an original September 9 target to October 29 — but with the game confirmed Gold, that shift looks final rather than a sign of more delays to come.
Worth Getting Excited About?
Between the wuxia-inspired combat, a story built around a ticking clock (Soul's been given just 66 days to live after being framed for his master's murder), and a developer clearly confident enough to lock the release date in stone, Phantom Blade Zero is shaping up to be one of the more interesting action-RPGs left on the 2026 calendar. The August 17 deep dive should tell us a lot more about whether the hype holds up.
